European Identities in a Globalizing World University of Tübingen, Virtual Intercultural Program

The course will discuss concepts of identity, nationalism and sovereignty in Europe. We will analyze historical backgrounds and developments, as well as various theoretical approaches towards identity. Our conversations will be put within a global context. We will read a selection of authors such as Benedict Anderson, Erik Hobsbawm, Dipesh Chakrabarty, Kwame Anthony Appiah, Stephanie Bergbauer, Jeffrey T. Checkel and Peter J. Katzenstein and others.
